Chandler Went ‘Above and Beyond’ During Training
DETROIT –– The Michigan Apprenticeship Steering Committee Inc. (MASCI) has named Operating Engineers 324’s Corey Chandler its 2017 Construction Apprentice of the Year. As a graduate of OE 324’s apprenticeship program, Chandler is now a journeyman Operating Engineer.
Since 1977, MASCI has brought labor leaders, industry executives, government officials, and education professionals together in its mission to ensure that Michigan has one the best apprenticeship systems in the nation. Each year, MASCI honors two Apprentices of the Year, one for Manufacturing and one for Construction. Cody Laughlin has been named Manufacturing Apprentice of the Year.

“OE 324 couldn’t be prouder of Corey being named MASCI’s 2017 Construction Apprentice of the Year. MASCI provides resources for individuals to map out a career path through apprenticeships, as well as assisting employers in the development of apprentice programs.
“MASCI believes that innovative registered apprenticeship programs are critical to Michigan continuing to have the finest workforce in the world. Every year, thousands of men and women in our state get top-notch training for good wage-earning careers in manufacturing and construction. MASCI is proud to honor the most outstanding apprentices in their respective fields in 2017,” said Operating Engineers LMEC Executive Director and MASCI Chairman Lee Graham.
