On April 25th, WJR’s Building Michigan show talked to Operating Engineers 324 about Construction and the career opportunities in the industry. First, they spoke to John Hartwell, Operating Engineers 324 Career and Outreach Representative about the upcoming Michigan Construction Career Days, as well as other opportunities for youth around Michigan to learn about opportunities in the skilled trades.
In the second segment, they spoke to Matt Closs, Training Director of the OE324 Stationary Engineer School, about what they’ve been working on, and what exciting classes they have upcoming – and who they are open to.
They spoke with Kathi Harris, who is working to bring pre-apprenticeship opportunities to Grand Rapids with the help of OE324 and the Building Trades.
Finally, they talked to OE324 Business Representative Chris Phillips and Communications Director Dan McKernan about Detroit, and the pressing need to make sure city-selected contractors are held to responsible standards.
