Operating Engineers 324 Endorses Romps, Summers, Cambensy and Dianda in U.P. Legislative Races
Candidates Support Job Creation and Are Working To Move the U.P Forward
GLADSTONE –– Operating Engineers 324 today endorsed four candidates in Upper Peninsula legislative races because of their support of job creation, working people and the middle class, and moving the U.P. forward.
OE 324 is endorsing Bob Rumps, Democrat in the 108th State House District; Rep. Sara Cambensy (D-Marquette) in the 109th State House District; Ken Summers, Democrat in the 110th State House District; and Rep. Scott Dianda (D-Calumet) in the 38th State Senate District.
“Bob Rumps, Sara Cambensy, Ken Summers, and Scott Dianda have been friends of labor, working people, and the middle class. They support job creating and sustaining initiatives that will move the Upper Peninsula forward, and that’s why Operating Engineers 324 needs their leadership in the Michigan Legislature,” said Operating Engineers 324 President Ken Dombrow.
OE 324 opened the Northern Michigan Construction Career Center in Gladstone last year. The union strongly supports the prevailing wage and will hold accountable those who voted to eliminate it, including Rep. Beau LaFave (R-Iron Mountain) in the 108th HD.
“OE 324 is dedicated to training the next generation of skilled tradespeople in the U.P., which is why we opened our career center in Gladstone. Unfortunately, the 108th House District has had poor leadership that fails to see the value of hardworking men and women in the trades being paid what they’re worth. We are proud to endorse Bob Rumps, as well as Sara Cambensy, Ken Summers, and Scott Dianda, because we know they will stand with working people,” said OE 324 Business Manager Douglas W. Stockwell.
Cambensy and Dianda said they are honored to have OE 324’s support.
“The job training that OE 324 provides in its Gladstone career center is second-to-none. As a State Representative, my top priority has been creating good-paying jobs in the U.P. and OE 324 has been a great partner. I have always stood up for the prevailing wage and common-sense solutions for the U.P. and I look forward to continuing this work in the State Senate,” said Rep. Scott Dianda (D-Calumet).
“I’m grateful for OE 324’s endorsement. I went to Lansing to fight for the hardworking men and women of the Upper Peninsula, who are too often forgotten. I’m proud to support initiatives and training programs for skilled trades jobs and improve our infrastructure,” said Rep. Sara Cambensy (D-Marquette).
