OE 324 Recording Corresponding Secretary Tom Scott Appointed to Detroit-Wayne Joint Building Authority
Scott Replaces the Late Derrick Sanders on the Board
DETROIT –– Operating Engineers 324 Recording Corresponding Secretary and Business Agent Tom Scott has been appointed to the Detroit-Wayne Joint Building Authority. Scott is replacing longtime OE 324 Business Agent Derrick Sanders on this board, who passed away last month.
Scott has been a member of Operating Engineers 324 for 17 years and has served as a Business Agent for the last 12 years. For the past eight years, Scott has served as the elected Recording Corresponding Secretary. Since 2010, Scott has overseen the OE 324 Stationary Division. He also sits on the Wayne County Economic Development Corporation and the Wayne County Brownfield Authority.
“Tom Scott will be an excellent addition to the Detroit-Wayne Joint Building Authority. In his 17 years with OE 324, Tom has proven himself to be a leader. His experience on both the Wayne County Economic Development Corporation and the Wayne County Brownfield Authority will prove invaluable in his new role,” said Business Manager and General Vice President Douglas W. Stockwell.
The authority owns the Coleman A. Young Municipal Center. The building houses the City of Detroit’s Executive and Legislative Branches, the Clerk Offices for the City of Detroit, and County of Wayne, Wayne County Probate Court and the 3rd Judicial Circuit Courts.
“I am honored to accept this appointment to the Detroit-Wayne Joint Building Authority. I pledge to carry on the important work that Derrick Sanders did and make sure that the voices of OE 324 members are always heard on the board,” said Scott.
