On October 9-11, the Michigan Apprenticeship Steering Committee, Inc. (MASCI) held the Build Michigan Conference at the Radisson Hotel Lansing and Lansing Center, and it was a true success. We had an exceptional number of speakers and presentations including the welcoming of veterans (Helmets To Hardhats) and women (National Women in Construction/NAWIC) into construction and manufacturing apprenticeships, the Multi-Core (MC3) Curriculum as developed by the National Association of Building Trades Unions (NABTU), and Pre-Apprenticeship and Apprentice Readiness programs, MI-STEM and CTE educators and so many more.
We were also honored to be joined by Governor Gretchen Whitmer, Lt. Governor Garlin Gilchrist, Michigan Labor and Economic Opportunity Director Jeff Donofrio, Michigan State Director of the US DOL Office of Apprenticeship Russ Davis, and Donna Pardonnet, executive director of Architectural and Construction Trades Michigan, as well as many other legislators. Having the opportunity to discuss the advancement of Registered Apprenticeships in Washington DC, Lansing, and our own communities was truly great.
All of this would not have been possible without the support of our sponsors, whom contributed mightily to see that this opportunity was viable and strong. We would like to humbly thank each one of them, as well as the many volunteers and support staff who worked tirelessly to make this vital event happen.
